In September 2019 I started working as a postdoc at VATT Insitute for Economic Research. I obtained my PhD from KU Leuven, where I studied under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jozef Konins at the Research Center for Regional Economics and contributed to the Policy Research Center Entrepreneurship and Economics. My research interests relate to public economics, regional and urban economics and applied micro in general. I am particularly interested in how public policy affects or reacts to the uneven spread of economic activity across space, at different levels of government.
My higher education experience began with multidisciplinary studies in business economics, completed at KU Leuven. Through a minor in economics, I developed an interested in studying the interaction between government and business, which I cultivated during studies abroad at UBC, a professional program in Washington D.C. and an internship at the Embassy of Canada to the United States. This inspired me to pursue further studies in economics and ultimately a PhD, which in turn provided plenty of opportunities to hone my skills in policy evaluation and to improve my knowledge of public and regional economics. Aside from my research activities, I am also involved with Academics for Development as a group executive board member and former coach.
